June 2008 and I'm about to embark on a new journey in life. As you read in the title, I'm gonna find out if the claims I see about how easy it is to make money online are true. I'm going to try my hand at earning some-I mean lots of money online.
I'm reading everything I can get my computer hands on and trying some courses on emarketing, etc. And now after a couple of weeks of study and research, I'm ready to give it a go.
But first, let me give some background on me. I have spent the last forty years (or so) as a Manufacturing Manager (Plant Mgr, Production Mgr, General Mgr) in businesses such as Furniture Mfg, Commercial/Residential Lighting Systems, Rubber Stamp Mfg. I was successful in all these positions and hopefully did not attain the top plateau of the Peter Principle which states - "Each person rises to their highest level of incompetence."
However, in 2006, the 2 Billion dollar a year company I was employed with moved all their manufacturing operations out of the U.S to Mexico. (Don't you just love cheap labor, no benefits, no Federal Regs and Fat Corporate Profits.)
NOOO - there's no bitterness here.
Just some sarcasm!
(Yes, I'm trying really hard not to ramble.)
Job lost - first priority is to get the hell out of California. So, after 25 years, it's a return to Reno, Nevada where my wife and I now reside. (Think about it - no state taxes, gambling, lots of $2.99 buffets and legalized prostitution - wow!)
OK, I'm starting to ramble. Sorry.
I spent many months posting resumes and applying for employment. For what it's worth-here are my observations about Job Opportunities & AGE. More rambling or valuable info - you decide.
1) If the Plant Manager is younger than your grandson - don't give up your job search.
2) What exactly does "Overqualified for the position" mean? I'm just looking for work.
3) Most bosses are not inclined to hire someone with more knowledge & know how than they have. (Regardless of age.)
4) If you were born in the mid 1940's, most younger people think that you should be in a Senior Care Home or retired on a tropical island.
I'm just looking for work!
So, to end this part of the probably boring bio - it ain't easy growing old(er).
Applying for Social Security was the next step in order to have some money coming in. Receiving SS checks and working a couple of hours each morning (up at 2 am - seven days a week - rain, snow dark of night) delivering the morning newspaper makes surviving at least bearable.
Okay, okay - enough already. You know where I am up to this point. In the next chapter of this saga, I'll give you a run down of my computer experience and why I'm getting involved in this "EASY ONLINE MONEY" quest.
